Emergency appointments - from £28
When Crane Dental is closed, telephone calls are diverted to our 24/7 emergency dental helpline - 01580 713609. You may be prompted to leave a answer machine message. Your call will be returned asap if you leave a message with your contact details and brief description of your dental emergency.
For dental emergencies and urgent symptoms should Crane Dental be uncontactable, please call DentaLine (NHS dental out of hours), during their opening hours (see below). Ask for an assessment, advice or to arrange an appointment where necessary.
DentaLine provides emergency treatment for patients who develop severe dental pain. Treatment is limited to pain relief and temporary dressings. Following treatment or pain relief, patients are advised to book an appointment with their own dentist.
Emergency dental conditions are defined as:
• Trauma of the face, mouth or teeth following recent accident or injury;
• Bleeding from the mouth or gum;
• Severe swelling affecting the airway or eye.
Urgent dental conditions are defined as:
• Sudden onset acute pain not relieved by over-the-counter pain killers;
• Swelling around the tooth, gum or face;
DentaLine can no longer accept patients on a drop-in basis and should a patient arrive at a Clinic without an appointment they will not be allowed to enter. In these circumstances patients will be required to contact the Call Centre by telephone for an assessment. An appointment will only be offered if the patient fits the acceptance criteria. The appointment given may be for later in the session if other patients have already been booked. Where daytime care is felt to be more appropriate, patients will be advised accordingly.
Treatment provided by DentaLine prevents deterioration in a patient’s oral health or will give temporary control of pain. After treatment, patients are still required to return to their own Dentist, or join the list of a Dental Practice, for a new course of treatment to permanently resolve their dental need.
